FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What Happens During My First Visit?

We start by completing a medical & lifestyle intake, an acugraph analysis and tongue diagnosis. The practitioner will decide, based on the results of the assessment, how to treat your presenting symptoms. If acupuncture is chosen, sterile, single-use, disposable needles are used. Acupuncture needles are very fine, flexible needles and they are gently inserted, often no more than half an inch into the body at acupuncture points.

The most you will feel is a slight discomfort when the needle is inserted but most likely you will not feel anything at all.
After the needles are in place, you will rest quietly, to your choice of relaxing music or a guided meditation for 30-45 minutes.
Your treatment could also require, cupping, auriculotherapy, cranial sacral therapy, emotional release as well as dietary and lifestyle recommendations.

How long will it take to see results?

Everyone responds to acupuncture differently. Some may notice change after the first session, some may not see any significant change until they’ve completed 4-6 sessions. Acupuncture is a treatment of momentum and initially sessions should be done close together (1-2x per week) for the first few weeks. Whether you have acute or chronic issues will also dictate the length of time to symptom relief.

How will I feel after an Acupuncture session?

After a session, people often express feeling calm and relaxed. Generally, people will start to notice an improvement in symptoms within 4-6 sessions with acupuncture. If the problem is acute it could be sooner but If you have a chronic problem you may not feel much different and improvement may take place gradually over a number of weeks.

Individual responses to treatment vary. Herbal and/or vitamin therapy will facilitate the success of treatment, as will making the appropriate dietary and lifestyle changes.
